Zoë Chiar is currently based in Paris. Her work revolves around the tension between allure and repulsion, the contrast between aesthetic value and visceral discomfort. Her images are about the poetry of the haunting grace found in the grotesque, exploring the erotic space where desire and disgust coexist and the raw is elevated to the realm of the sublime. By constructing unique aesthetic shapes and fragmented spaces her work is characterised by a disturbing beauty that unveils a deeper essence inherent in her subjects. Engaging with concepts of abstraction which are inspired by the notions of distortion and objectification  as a personal understanding  of perversion, she expands the boundaries of visual perception. Her images function as vessels for the human condition, focussing on the processes of deconstruction, reconstruction and fragmentation.
